Content DescriptionReturn to Top

The Les Hanvey mining records primarily document the operations of Highland Chrome, Inc. and mining companies owned and operated by Les Hanvey and his brother, Forest. Records include financial statements, stock certificates, receipts, legal documents, reports on claims, correspondence, newspaper clippings and other publications, maps, and photographs. The majority of Highland Chrome's claims were in eastern Whatcom County, near Sisters Creek, but there are maps in the collection that indicate the company also operated in Skagit and Snohomish Counties, and Mt. Baker National Forest.

The collection also includes some documents relating to Les Hanvey's work as a traffic control engineer.
