Historical Note

Campus Operations is a diverse organization that serves and supports the needs of the University of Oregon by providing professional services across a broad range of areas. These areas include design and construction, maintenance, repair, renovation, cleaning of campus buildings & building systems, generation and distribution of utilities, and the stewardship of university grounds.

The Facilities Services department is responsible for the maintenance and continued safe operation of campus facilities, and for prolonging the useful life of facilities.

Content Description

The collection contains records that document the functions, activities, and people of the department of facilities services and campus operations.

Material is organized by accession and includes the following material: (lists are not comprehensive)

Accession 10918.A radiation safety files, campus safety information, and office files, 1961-1978.

Accession 10931.A: office files, minutes, and Buildings and Grounds committee, 1967-1971.

Accession 11313.A: physical plant files, correspondence, and office files, 1965-1980.

Accession 11350.A: correspondence, list of authorized users of radioactive materials, RAM files, Environmental Health and Services files, inventory, and procedures, 1969-1985.

Accession 11558.A: safety committees, school and building safety, and hazardous materials issues, 1969-1994

Accession 12310.A: physical plant records, building plans, correspondence and office files, 1939-1959.

Accession 1996.63.A: annual reports, 1927-1949.

Accession 1996.20.A: environmental issues, committee files, minutes, and correspondence, 1990-1994.

Use of the Collection

Restrictions on Access :  

Collection is open to the public.

Collection must be used in Special Collections & University Archives Reading Room.

Collection or parts of collection may be stored offsite. Please contact Special Collections & University Archives in advance of your visit to allow for transportation time.

Materials may need to be reviewed by the University Archivist for confidential materials prior to access.

Material within this collection has been organized by accession. This organization reflects the fact that the collection has been acquired in increments over time. This organization is also based on the decision not to merge the various accessions and organize them as a whole at this point in time, give the fact that future accruals are anticipated and/or that this organization is deemed sufficient for access.
