Historical NoteReturn to Top

Ernest LaMarr King (1875-1954) was a superintendent for the Southern Pacific Railroad who also wrote articles and stories about the railroad. In addition to his numerous short works, King was also the author of the railroading book Main Line. King began his railroad career as a messenger-telegrapher in Wadsworth, Nevada. At the time of his retirement, he was the vice-president in charge of operations at Southern Pacific's office in Portland, Oregon.
