Summary
John L. Ballif was born in 1887 or 1888 (sources differ) in Logan, Utah. He joined the University of Utah faculty in 1922 and eventually became a professor of languages. He later served as assistant dean of men and graduate athletic manager. He was Dean of men from 1937 until his death in 1954. A University of Utah dormitory, Ballif Hall, was dedicated in his honor in 1956. This collection contains photocopies of newspaper clippings, photographs, and other ephemera, originally in a scrapbook.

This collection contains photocopies of newspaper clippings, photographs, and other ephemera, originally in a scrapbook. The materials are mainly from the years following Dean Ballif's death in 1954 and include an oration given at his funeral. Included are obituary notices of his wife, Cora H. Ballif. Also included are records on the dedication of Ballif Hall.
