Historical NoteReturn to Top

Lloyd C. Pickett earned a Bachelor's degree in Agronomy in 1954, a Master's degree in Plant Pathology in 1957, and a Doctorate in Adult Education in 1963 from the University of Wyoming. He was an assistant and acting county extension agent in Wyoming from 1958-1960 and served as teacher certification officer for the Wyoming Department of Education in 1963-64. Dr. Pickett was appointed Supervisor of Indian Programs for the Montana Cooperative Extension Service in 1970 with his offices at Montana State University in Bozeman. The program ended in 1976.

These papers are the resource files of the Indian Programs of the Montana Cooperative Extension Service collected between 1970-1976. They are comprised of three series. Series 1 includes resource files for the Indian Program on the culture and lives of Indians organized alphabetically by subject. Series 2 includes general files about American Indians, Indians of various regions and states, and Indian organizations. Series 3 is devoted to Montana Indians specifically, the Extension Service Programs established, and the Montana Reservations.

Files collected to support research for the Indian Programs of the Montana Cooperative Extension Service. Files are arranged alphabetically by subject. They include originals and/or photocopies of: monographs, reports, bulletins, journal articles, correspondence, pamphlets, brochures, newspaper clippings, greeting cards, art work and other miscellaneous publications related to Indian life and culture in general and specific to Montana Indians.
