Robert Aubrey Miller (1854-1941) owned a law practice in Jacksonville, Oregon, served in the Oregon House of Representatives from district 19 and as an aide to Governor Sylvester Pennoyer. Henry Klippel, born in Germany in 1833, became an Oregon pioneer, moving to Oregon from St. Joseph, Missouri in 1851. He was elected Sheriff of Jackson County in 1870 and served until 1872. He also served as City Recorder for the City of Jacksonville and County Recorder and County Assessor for Jackson County. He fought in the Rogue River Indian War, owned a hardware business and worked in a sawmill. Klippel also was a Commissioner for the construction of the Oregon State Capitol in Salem.
