The general correspondence, both incoming and outgoing, is in chronological order and contains comments on reviews, the submission of his poems to journals, and several letters relating to his application for the University of Idaho library directorship. Among his correspondents are Joseph Wood Krutch, Jacques Barzun and Wallace Stegner. A second correspondence folder is concerned with the library for the governor's house. Another folder contains a published poem and both published and unpublished reviews and articles. There are two folders of poetry, the one arranged alphabetically contains manuscript drafts and often a typescript version of Kellogg's poetry; the other folder contains two collections, one of 37 leaves which was probably arranged by Kellogg, the other of 88 leaves which is the typescript of the poetry edited by Paul Conditt and printed after Kellogg's death. The three bibliography groups contain printed versions and drafts of the bibliographies, correspondence relating to publication, requests for information, and in the case of the Manfred work, correspondence with the subject. There are also articles by and about the subject. Each type of material is in chronological order. The final series contains Kellogg's classroom notes on poetry, notebooks containing information for his thesis, several typed essays on Milton, a box of bibliography cards, and pages 1-84 of his thesis. Due to the lack of specific identification on the notebooks no attempt was made to arrange this material.
