The Josephine Hutchens Collection consists of materials assembled by Hutchens during her student years at Oregon State College from 1938 to 1941. The collection includes the 1939, 1940, and 1941 Beaver yearbooks, dance cards, grade reports, pins, and student handbooks. The student handbooks consist of the Rook Bible for 1938-1939 and the Coed Code for 1938-1939 and 1940-1941.

Alice Josephine Hutchens attended Oregon State College from 1938 until 1941, when she earned a BS in Secretarial Science. Prior to her enrollment at Oregon State, Hutchens attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, She was born in Forest Grove on January 21, 1917 and attended high school there. Hutchens married Andrew Johson Browning, Jr.; Alice Josephine Browning died in 2011.

The collection was donated by Elizabeth Maisel, Josephine's graddaughter, in 2011 after her death.
