The Living Groups Index documents off-campus housing for Oregon State University students from the 1910s through 1970s. The Index consists of individual cards for fraternities, sororities, cooperatives, and other housing clubs. The cards include dates of establishment or charter and, if applicable, the year a local fraternity or sorority affiliated with a national organization. Each card also provides street addresses for the living group through time.
The Index also includes cards for individual street addresses, arranged in two groups -- one for numbered streets and the other for named streets. These cards indicate which fraternity, sorority or other living group was located at that address and for what time period.

Custodial History
The Living Groups Index was available for reference use in the University Archives in the early 1990s and appears to have been assembled by University Archives staff, probably Harriet Moore, beginning in about 1960. The Index was updated with additional information through the 1960s and mid-1970s.
Acquisition Information
The Living Groups Index became part of the Special Collections & Archives Research Center's historical collections in 2012.
Related Materials
The University Housing and Dining Services Records (RG 145) document the administration of campus housing at Oregon State and provide information about off-campus housing as well. Many collections provide information about fraternities, sororities, and cooperative houses including the Greek Life Office Records (RG 223), Memorabilia Collection, Panhellenic Council (RG 056) and Interfraternity Council (RG 088) Records, records of the Dean of Men (RG 134) and Dean of Women (RG 057), and the records of individual clubs, houses, and organizations.
