Content DescriptionReturn to Top

The collection contains manuscripts, tearsheets, correspondence, and publications of young people's magazines from the 1930s-1940s.

There are two manuscripts of western stories and tear sheets of published pieces.

One story, "Judgment Bell," has with it a critique by Ernest Haycox.

Incoming and outgoing correspondence is mixed together in two different folders, and dates from 1938 to 1958. It does not seem to be in either alphabetical or chronological order.

Correspondence includes letters from agents Carl Brandt, Lurton Blassingame, and Sydney Sanders, and personal letters from John Hawkins and Albert R. Wetjen.

Young people's magazines included bound issues of Young People's Weekly (1938-1940) and St. Nicholas Magazine for Youth (1937-1939). There are also multiple loose issues of The Girls Companion (1936-1942).
