Northwest Public Power Association (NWPPA) is a non-profit trade association comprising public/people's utility districts, electric cooperatives, municipalities, and crown corporations in the Western U.S. and Canada. The collection (1948-1963) consists of correspondence, material regarding power and service plans of electric cooperatives, application and hearing material for the Mountain Sheep-Pleasant Valley hydro-electric project on the Middle Snake River, and a file regarding the Oregon Electric Consumers council.

Northwest Public Power Association (NWPPA) is a not for profit trade association comprising public/people's utility districts, electric cooperatives, municipalities and crown corporations in the Western U.S. and Canada" (NWPPA website, 2013).

NWPPA also serves the sales and networking needs of approximately 300 Associate Members across the U.S. and Canada who are allied with the electric utility industry (NWPPA website, 2013).

Gustav "Gus" Norwood, served as Northwest Public Power Association's executive secretary for 20 years (1947- 1967). He was then appointed as the first administrator of the Alaska Power Administration in Juneau, Alaska.

The collection (1948-1963) consists of correspondence, material regarding power and service plans of electric cooperatives, application and hearing material for the Mountain Sheep-Pleasant Valley hydro-electric project on the Middle Snake River in Idaho and Oregon, and a file regarding the Oregon Electric Consumers council.

Special Collections and University Archives holds a detailed paper listing of the contents of this collection.

Series I: Correspondence is separated into incoming and outgoing sections. Incoming letters (1948-1963) are arranged alphabetically. Outgoing correspondence is arranged by date, 1949-1962.

Series II: Electric Cooperatives contains files on cooperatives including Oregon Rural Electric Cooperative Association, Benton-Lincoln Electric Cooperative, Lane County Electric Cooperative, Inc, and Tillamook Peoples' Utility District, among others. Material includes reports, resolutions, meetings, analyses and summaries of power requirements, and recommended service plans.

Series III contains on folder regarding the Oregon Electric Consumers council.

Series IV: Project 2137 consists of material used in the hearings before the Federal Power Commission and the application process for a license for Mountain Sheep-Pleasant Valley hydro-electric project on the Middle Snake River in Idaho and Oregon, by Pacific Northwest Power Company. Materials include briefs, opinions, supporting geological documents, and numerous statements in support as well as statements in protest. There is a statement of protest by Gus Norwood. Testimonies are also included.
