Content DescriptionReturn to Top

Series one of the William Clark family papers consists of documents, correspondence, and reminiscences from 1740 through 1926. Most of this series was generated by the family from three subsequent locations: the portion of Massachusetts Bay Province which became Cheshire County, New Hampshire; Dane County, Wisconsin; and the area of Washington Territory which formed Columbia, Garfield and Whitman counties. Six personal and business account books of William Clark and W. I. Clark, dated 1852 through 1891, comprise the second series. Series three consists of communications between members of the Clark family and the Washington State University Libraries dating 1949 through 1978.
