Little is known about the life of Lura McLane Smith (1885-1979). Her husband's missionary service took her to Korea in the 1940s. She kept a record of missionary activities (from reports to newspaper articles) on the activities of other missionaries in the western Pacific. Her husband, Roy K. Smith (1885-1958) was a Presbyterian medical missionary in Korea, in Seoul and Mason.

The collection is divided into three series. Correspondence includes incoming correspondence from Allen D. Clark, Harry and Mary Hill, and Howard and Delle Moffet. Reports, Obituaries, and Anecdotes contains reports by Harry and Mary Hill of the Korea Mission, Chung Ju Station, and Chongju's Home-School for Blind Children. The third series contains booklets, scrapbooks, pamphlets, clippings, and magazines, which are arranged by date. The pamphlets, clippings, and magazines were collected over a period of decades, from 1946 – 1973.
