Formerly part of the Office of the Comptroller, the Office of the City Auditor became part of the Legislative Department in 1993. In 1999 the Office of the City Auditor became an independent department. The Office of City Auditor conducts financial audits, performance audits, management audits, and compliance audits of City of Seattle programs, agencies, grantees, and contracts.
