Summary
The Utah Engineering Experiment Station was established in 1909 to encourage a close working relationship between the School of Mines and Utah industries. It became a division of the University of Utah in 1926, with the head of the Department Mining and Metallurgical Research becoming director. It now reports to the deans of the College of Engineering and the College of Mines and Earth Sciences. It conducts research, tests products, publishes reports, and sponsors conferences. This collection contains project data and reports as well as some materials concerning the operation and management of the Station. One-half of the collection consists of files on individual research projects in fuels, metallurgy, geology, geophysics, and mechanical, chemical, and civil engineering.
