Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Charles Lewis Wallace was born in 1910. During World War II, Wallace was given conscientious object status based on his religious beliefs as a Methodist. Wallace was drafted in Petaluma, California and assigned to Civilian Public Service (CPS) Camp #37 at Coleville, California on July 10, 1942. During his short time in the camp, Wallace was involved in the leadership of the camp and also spent time on assignment at CPS Camp #76 at Glendora, California. Wallace left CPS for health reasons on November 18, 1942.
