Biographical NoteReturn to Top

John L. "Lou" Wheeler was born in Sherman, Texas on October 23, 1884. He came to Forsyth (Rosebud County) Montana in 1907 as a railroad contractor and filed for a homestead claim in the area the following year. Wheeler raised horses and cattle, forming brief partnerships with neighbors Fred William Zempel and Oscar Bernard Jackson during the 1920s and 1930s. Lou Wheeler died on January 13, 1983.
