KBVR-FM, the student-operated campus radio station, began broadcasting
in 1965 as a 10-watt station. In January 1967, KBVR television began
broadcasting for several hours one or two evenings per week, on the closed
circuit television system used during the day for classroom television. Both
the radio and television stations were originally located in Shepard Hall, but
moved to the Memorial Union East when that facility was completed in 1977. KBVR
radio and television are funded and administered through the Memorial Union and
Student Activities as one of the components of Student Media.
This collection consists of color slides made and/or assembled by KBVR
for use in television productions and broadcasts. The images include views of
campus and campus buildings; the KBVR studios and staff; intercollegiate
athletics; President Robert W. MacVicar and his wife, Clarice MacVicar;
Corvallis; the ASOSU Senate in session; and students. Of particular note are
images of the coaches and players on the 1980/81 women's basketball and
gymnastics teams, businesses and street scenes in downtown Corvallis, and the
Vina Moses Center.
All of the images are mounted, color 35 mm slides.
