Ahio Scott Watt (1824-1909) was an Oregon pioneer of 1848, who he became clerk of the first court in the Oregon Territory.
"Watt was born in Knox County, Ohio, on January 15, 1824. At the age of 14, he went with his parents to Sullivan County, Missouri, where he made his home until March, 1848, when the Watt family crossed the plains to Oregon, settling near the present town of Amity, in Yamhill County. Watt later acquired land and engaged in farming. He also taught school for some time.
In 1884 he became land and tax agent of the Southern Pacific railroad and later of the O.R. and N. lines as well, keeping this position for twenty years. He became a member of the Oregon Pioneer Association soon after its organization in 1873, and also of the Oregon Historical Society."
On July 23, 1850, he married Mary Elizabeth Elder, who was also an Oregon pioneer.

The collection (1802-1835) contains Watt's personal and family reminiscences.
The reminiscences are a hand-written account of members of the Watt family, beginning in 1802 with Watt's grandparents, and including an account of the trip to Missouri. The 1848 trip to Oregon is not included in the reminiscences.
The reminiscences were written in 1890.
