Historical NoteReturn to Top

The USS Currier (DE-700), a U.S. Navy destroyer, was launched on October 14, 1943 and decommissioned on April 4, 1960. The ship played a major role in WWII, participating in the 1944 assault on Southern France and the invasion of Iwo Jima. During her service, the ship supplied troops, transported soldiers and prisoners of war, escorted convoys, and patrolled coastlines. The Currier received two battle stars for service in WWII and one for service in the Korean War. The crew of the Currier meets every year for a reunion.
