Historical NoteReturn to Top

The Newberg Woman's Christian Temperance Union (W.C.T.U.) was established about 1892 as an auxilliary organization to the Womans Christian Temperance Union of Oregon. Its stated goal was to "…educate public sentiment up to the standard of total abstinence, train the young, save the inebriate and secure the legal prohibition and complete banishment of the liquor traffic." (Constitution, article 2).
