The Newberg Woman's Christian Temperance Union (W.C.T.U.) was established about 1892 as an auxiliary organization to the Womans Christian Temperance Union of Oregon. Its stated goal was to "…educate public sentiment up to the standard of total abstinence, train the young save the inebriate and secure the legal prohibition and complete banishment of the liquor traffic." (Constitution, article 2).
The collection consists of four volumes of meeting minutes, one volume of treasurer's records, and a photocopied historical overview entitled "90 Year Highlights Oregon WCTU." Additional information in the volumes includes the organization's constitution, by-laws, and membership rolls for various years.
