Historical Note

The Oregon Historical Society began collecting materials relating to the wine industry in the 1990s, in recognition of the economic and cultural significance of the industry to the state of Oregon. This collection contains materials donated to the Oregon Wine Archives by individuals in the wine and spirits industry, as well as items collected by Oregon Historical Society staff.

Content Description

This collection was created by the Oregon Historical Society in an effort to gather together ephemera relating to the wine and spirits industry in Oregon collected under the Society's Oregon Wine Archives initiative. Included in the collection are clippings, brochures, newsletters, newspapers, magazines, wine labels, business cards, posters, programs, bulletins, and monographs, relating to wines, their production and marketing, relevant issues, and affiliated industries. Most of the materials date from circa 1972-2002.

The Oregon Historical Society is the owner of the materials in the Research Library and makes available reproductions for research, publication, and other uses. Written permission must be obtained from the Research Library prior to any use of reproductions. The Society does not necessarily hold copyright to all the materials in the collections. In some cases, permission for use of reproductions may require seeking additional authorization from the copyright holders.

The collection was assembled from a variety of sources by the Oregon Historical Society. Provenance can be traced from accession numbers on some individual items. Includes library accessions 23670, 23996, 24070, and 24126.
