Lawrence Perry (1874-1954) was born in Newark, New Jersey, and attended Princeton University. He was a sports reporter and drama critic for several newspapers and for the North American Newspaper Alliance. He also became an author, producing novels, plays, articles, short stories, and poems.

The collection contains manuscripts of novels, plays, short stories, and poems, correspondence, a scrapbook with letters, clippings and mementos, and a diary, 1918-1925.

The collection is organized by accession.

The initial donation contains correspondence, manuscripts, a contract, diary, scrapbook, and memorabilia.

Correspondence (1907-1961) is separated by subject. The first section, general correspondence is organized alphabetically by sender. Family letters mostly consist of letters from Perry to his son, Glen Perry. There is a section containing eleven letters from the New York Department of Finance and Taxation. And finally, correspondence concerning Lawrence Perry includes letters from publishing companies and from the North American Newspaper Alliance.

Manuscripts of novels, plays, stories, and poems may include original drafts, revisions, and synopses.

There is also a contract, a diary, memorabilia, and a scrapbook included in this initial donation.

The later accession contains correspondence and manuscripts.

Correspondence is arranged alphabetically by name.
