- Abraham Walter Lafferty (1875-1964) practiced law in Portland and was elected as a Republican to the sixty-second and sixty-third Congresses (March 4, 1911-March 3, 1915). He moved to New York City in 1919 and continued the practice of law there until 1933. He returned to Portland and later unsuccessfully ran for political office several times. Papers include letters to E. B. MacNaughton, January 1949, urging Reed College to purchase Calvert Mansion in Riverdale, Maryland; and miscellaneous documents, 1961-1963, regarding his problems with the I.R.S. and Oregon & California Railroad land claims. Also included is correspondence between Norman Wiener and Dr. Thomas R. Montgomery, 1991, regarding Lafferty's I.R.S. and Oregon & California Railroad troubles retrospectively.

Abraham Walter Lafferty was a congressman from Oregon. He was born in Missouri on June 10, 1875. He moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1905. He practiced law in Portland and was elected as a Republican to the sixty-second and sixty-third Congresses (March 4, 1911-March 3, 1915). He moved to New York City in 1919 and continued the practice of law there until 1933. He returned to Portland and later unsuccessfully ran for political office several times.

The Abraham Walter Lafferty papers include letters to E. B.
