Portion of a typescript paper written by Lois Reed Bryant for a college class, HST 377, Oregon History, in May 1943, possibly at the University of Oregon. The first page is labeled "Part Two" and gives a brief introduction; Part One of the paper is not present. The rest of Part Two of the paper, titled "Into the Past: Down 45 Years of Railroad Track," consists of quoted excerpts from a book, "Forty Years a Locomotive Engineer," written by Bryant's father, J. Harvey Reed, about his railroad career. The paper includes brief remarks by Bryant before some of the excerpts, as well as two hand-drawn illustrations that mimic illustrations in the book.
