- Honorary degrees are awarded upon recommendation by the President and approved by the Institutional Council to individuals who have achieved unusual distinction in academic pursuits, arts, professions, business, government, civic affairs, or in service to the University. This collection contains cue cards used in the awarding of honorary degrees at commencement (1964-1969), a survey of honorary degree policies of other universities (1969), and nomination materials for Roy Trewin Porte (1923) and Joseph Jensesn (1971).
